EXERCISES, STRETCHES & POSTURE
Ashling will recommend you do specific daily exercises or stretches at home. These videos are to remind you of what you were asked to do. You won't have been asked to do them all, only those relevant to you! You will also have been told about the importance of posture. This page is to reiterate what you were told at your appointment, and is not a substitute for treatment.
Studies have shown that it is important to stretch tight muscles before strengthening the weak ones. It is believed that tight muscles after being stretched can then relax, making the subsequent strengthening exercises more effective. These exercises are fundamentally to stretch the tight muscles.
Stretches should never be done to the point of pain or soreness.
If they aggravate your symptoms, stop!
Never, ever "bounce" a stretch!
Make sure you wear appropriate clothing to do the stretches and don't hurt yourself by hitting anything whilst doing them!
